Dr Georgia Mason keynote video at the Global Synergy for Animal Welfare meeting

Dr Georgia Mason gave a closing keynote at an online meeting last month: Global Synergy for Animal Welfare: From Research to Impact workshop. Check out her talk here: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=l7XDGQtmhjA&list=UULFISqJDORKfsVqc0BBBNNKIw&index=7

She asked, how should animal welfare scientists shape policy and practice? By working hand-in-hand with industry to slowly effect change? By feeding their work into policy-making processes like CCAC guidelines? Or by working with the media to bring issues to the public? As Georgia argues, all can work, each with their pros and cons, but all could and should be better (fairer, more accurate and more inclusive…).

Please note two small bloopers in the talk: At 32:58, Georgia meant “controlled as pests” (not “controlled as pets”), and at 38:52 she meant “successfully translate to humans” (not “successfully translate to animals”).
