Animal Welfare Assessment Contest

Recently the University of Guelph was represented by 3 teams at the AVMA’s Animal Welfare Assessment Contest in River Falls Wisconsin. Species included dairy cows on a compost bedded pack, penguins in a zoo, commercial breeding dogs, and laboratory frogs (Xenopus laevis).

Our teams were all very successful! The graduate team finished first overall and first in the live assessment. PhD student Lea Nicklas placed third as an individual in graduate division! The DVM team finished second overall in the veterinary student division! Congrats to all!
